Isthmus of Tehuantepec, isthmus in southern Mexico, between the Gulf of Campeche on the Gulf of Mexico to the north, and the Gulf of Tehuantepec on the Pacific Ocean to the south.
The Isthmus of Tehuantepec is the Mexicos narrowest zone between the two oceans (Pacific and Atlantic), along the Gulf of Mexico. As well as the state of Oaxaca, the Isthmus includes the states of Veracruz, Chiapas, and Tabasco.
